Aquaculture / Blue biotechnology
We have developed an innovative technology platform to unlock the exploitation of Ulva green seaweed as a source of sustainable and high-quality Ulvan polysaccharide with unique properties in skincare to be incorporated as a novel natural cosmetic and cosmeceutical ingredient by the skincare industry. However, Ulvan bioactive yet have to be made available to the cosmetic industry at an affordable price and quality from a reliable and sustainable seaweed source. To this aim, our company will focus its business plan on the exploitation of POLYULVAN: the first cosmetic ingredient with pure ulvan polysaccharide extracted from the cell walls of sustainable and safe cultivated Ulva seaweeds. POLYULVAN will be commercialized as a natural and eco-friendly cosmetic ingredient of marine origin targeted to leading companies in the cosmetics and skincare industry to be incorporated into their novel formulations or used as a natural substitutive of synthetic active ingredients.
Contacted by several potential customers. We are only awaiting the official approval of all legal requirements set up by the public administration (at the regional level in Spain) to start with the commercialization. | TRL: 6 | Next stage: Industrializing and commercial acceleration | Sustainable impact on Blue Economy: Reduces carbon emissions, Contributes to waste reduction, Encourages sustainable use of maritime resources | 1,75 M€ sought - Spain
Aquaculture / Blue biotechnology
We process seaweed within hours of being removed from the ocean reducing carbon footprint and retaining high quality and microbial activity. Modest in scale focuses on quality outputs. Processing wet stock removes the expensive process of drying or freeze-drying raw material. Low start-up cost promoting multiple units for growth and scalability.
Multiple outputs across a wide range of market sectors. | TRL: 6 | Next stage: Industrializing and commercial acceleration | Sustainable impact on Blue Economy: Reduces carbon emissions, Contributes to waste reduction | 1,75 M€ sought - Ireland
Aquaculture, Blue biotechnology
We produce microalgae biomass and fluids with suspended microalgal biomass via novel semi-continuous process. After the cultivation stage, we conduct organic treatment of biomass (hot water extraction, NaCl treatment and strong light treatment) to customise it to clients preferences. Our main selling point is EU certified organic microalgae biomass rich in proteins, minerals for healthy food and beverage products. Established business contacts with several food and beverage manufacturing companies in Croatia and other regions including Italy. 5 products lines: -Ice cream -Bread -Pasta -Soft drinks -Cosmetics were developed. Sustainable impact on Blue Economy: Reduces carbon emissions use of fossil-based plastics and fossil-based colorants in food and beverage sector| TRL: 7| Next stage: commercial acceleration | 1,75 M€ sought - Croatia
Blue biotechnology
We extract phytochemicals substances from seaweeds around the world to obtain biostimulants that help farmers and growers to obtain better results from their plants and in particular to overcome climatic stresses. We have understood that it is possible to obtain several products from several seaweeds and so we have a quite large network of seaweeds producers on our agenda. At the same time, we believe that the potentiality of Mediterranean seaweeds is totally unexplored in this regard. So we are also engaged in the cultivation of seaweeds in the Mediterranean region that can have different use as well as for agricultural use. | TRL: 8 | Next stage: commercial acceleration |Sustainable impact on Blue Economy: Reduces carbon emissions, Encourages sustainable use of maritime resources | Italy
Blue biotechnology, Coastal and environmental protection
We offer a highly efficient solution for removing organic micropollutants (e.g. pharmaceuticals, pesticides, plastic derivatives) for a much lower cost than existing technologies. It has also minimal energy consumption and offers no additional safety concerns. The technology is based on novel biotechnology. _____________
