BlueInvest and DMEC (Dutch Marine Energy Centre) join forces to introduce marine energy solutions on September 22 at 4:00 PM CEST

BlueInvest and DMEC scouted five European companies that will be showcasing their innovative marine energy solutions able to generate clean energy at our rivers, seas, and oceans.

BlueInvest and DMEC are delighted to present the 8th edition of the BlueInvest e-pitch session, which will be held online on September 22 at 4:00 PM CEST. 

This session features European companies with innovative solutions to generate renewable energy at our rivers, seas, and oceans. 

BlueInvest is an EU initiative to boost innovation and investment in sustainable technologies for the blue economy by supporting readiness and access to finance for early-stage businesses, SMEs, and scale-ups. It is enabled by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. DMEC is an accelerator for marine energy solutions. By advancing innovation, mobilising capital, and shaping policies, DMEC creates multipurpose energy solutions for a wide variety of markets and collaborates with clients in various market segments to identify, explore and realise tailored solutions using innovative marine energy technologies.

Crestwing - Wave energy 
With a simple construction, high power generation, low LCoE and proven survivability offshore, Crestwing has the potential to become the next commercial renewable energy source in fighting climate changes. Our Crestwing wave energy converter utilizes the energy of the waves in a completely new and unique manner. They can be placed at all water depths, either in wave energy parks or in synergy with offshore wind parks. Next target: In a rougher sea environment - demonstrate the high-power generation, proven survivability, and up-scale readiness | TRL: 6 | EUR 1.0 Mn sought - Denmark

EEL Energy - Marine Energy
To offer a renewable, CO2-free, stable, and predictable energy source, EEL ENERGY chose to develop the EEL, a patented undulating biomimetic membrane tidal turbine, the result of 10 years of research into the transfer of energy between fluid and membrane. This technology, based on a prestressed membrane, enables energy to be recovered from river currents or tides. Next target: As we have 2 prototypes delivering clean energy for a couple of months, we want to build bigger devices and accelerate EEL development | TRL: 6-7 | EUR 10.0 - 15.0 Mn sought - France

REDstack BV - Sustainable energy / Full sustainable power / Energy from water
REDstack, the world leader in technology and process equipment for two major needs of our time: full continuous sustainable power and desalinated water is now raising funds to expand the business. The RED-technology harvests sustainable and full-continuous power, out of contacting flows of fresh water and salt water in membrane-stacks. The technology and equipment can be applied where water flows of different salinity meet, so, where rivers flow into the sea, or treated effluents are discharged. Once fully implemented, this technology can generate up to 10% of the world power demand in an efficient and  eco-friendly way.
REDstack is seeking capital for realising in-house membrane manufacturing and stack assembly lines, expanding the pilot plant into a demonstration plant, and implementing sales of membrane stacks. Next step: To expand the pilot plant into a demonstration plant, by increasing the capacity with 12 full-industrial-size membrane-stacks; and realizing in-house manufacturing facilities for the membranes and stacks. Strategic cooperation is in place with leading consultants and sales-channel. | TAM:  225 billion; SOM in 2026: 375 million | TRL: 7; a pilot plant is successfully operating at the Afsluitdijk in the Netherlands | Next step: up-scaling the present pilot plant into a demonstration plants, using industrial size efficient membrane stacks.  | EUR 17.0 sought (on top of EUR 5.0 Mn of subsidy that is already allocated) - The Netherlands

Teamwork Technology & Symphony Wave Power - Wave energy 
SWP generates sustainable electricity by converting wave energy by means of a changing volume point absorber, which consists of a turbine driven by water within a vertical moving hull on the frequency of the waves and using the own frequency of the system to multiply production. It is a simple engineered, scalable device with only few components made of circular materials, leading to low maintenance cost and reliable base loads, and using the latest digital technologies for predictive operations. Next target: Full Wet Test phase of prototype and full scale model on location near the Dutch coast.| TRL: 4-5 | Cofinancing of the Wet Test phase. Total cost prototype (EUR 1.0 Mn) and full-scale model (EUR 2.5 Mn). Cofinance ranging from 30-50%.The Netherlands
